RegistrationWhat parts of Winnipeg are in the Broncos catchment? The catchment area for the Charleswood Broncos is north of McGillivray Blvd, south of the Assiniboine River, west of Route #90, and east of the Perimeter Hwy. All players living or attending a school within these boundaries can register for football with the Charleswood Broncos. In addition, residents west of the Perimeter Hwy and north of Wilkes Ave. can register with the Broncosor another football club or their choice; this includes the Headingley and area residents.
Who can play? The Broncos offer football to girls and boys ages 7 to 14 (ages as of December, 2011). Players do not require any experience and it is never too late to start playing football. The break down of teams based on age level are listed below:
Terminator 7 & 8 year olds Atom 9 & 10 year olds Pee Wee 11 & 12 year olds Minor Bantam 13 year olds Bantam 14 year olds
How can I register? 2011 Registration will take place at the Charleswood Broncos clubhouse at 535 Oakdale Drive, just south of Eric Coy arena on May 5 (6:30-9:00 pm), May 6 (6:30-9:00 pm), and May 7 (10:00 am -2:00 pm). Order of registration will determine placement on teams WITH PRIORITY GIVEN TO RETURNING PLAYERS. Although registration will continue after May 7, returning players are no longer given priority after the close of formal registration on May 7th.
What should I bring to registration? Each player needs to bring 1) their Manitoba health card, 2) two cheques, and 3) fee payment (cheque, VISA, or Kidsport*). The Manitoba health card is required for proof of age and residency. The two cheques are required from ALL player families as volunteer and equipment bonds (described below). Fees can be paid by cheque (i.e. bring three cheques) or VISA. *Kidsport is a source of funding for those families who qualify; to determine if you qualify, and to download an application form visit http://www.kidsportcanada.ca/index.php?page=manitoba_how_to_apply. In all cases, full payment, a plan for full payment, or a completed Kidsport applicaton are required to hold a place on the roster, and before a player's registration will be submitted to Football Manitoba. If you are planning to apply to Kidsport, please complete your forms in advance of registration.
How much does it cost? The fees for the 2011 season is $340.00 for registration. Because full playing equipment and uniforms are provided, ALL PLAYERS must provide a deposit in the form of a cheque (also referred to as equipment bond) which will not be cashed if all equipment/uniform is returned in good condition. The equipment bond for 2011 is $200.00 and the cheque can be post-dated for December 1, 2011. A volunteer bond in the amount of $200.00 and dated for September 30, 2011 must be provided by EACH FAMILY. This cheque will not be cashed if the expected volunteer hours (described elsewhere) for each family are completed. Families who do not wish to volunteer have the option of paying the $200.00.
